Trans-Pennine Railway Pub Crawl

Tickets are now available for our annual Branch Sports and Social event:
The Trans-Pennine Real Trail on Saturday 6th August

PLEASE NOTE: this year, unfortunately there is a replacement bus service on the 6th August, due to engineering works, but the hourly timetable remains the same and will make no real difference to your ability to do the trail, although the bus will take a little longer to reach each station. Because of this replacement bus, it is too complicated and time consuming to get to Dewsbury so we have only bought tickets from Bolton to Huddersfield, changing at Manchester Piccadilly and Stalybridge (although we’d recommend getting a fast train to Huddersfield and then making your way back on the stopping service.)

Using the hourly stopping train service between Dewsbury and Stalybridge it’s possible to do what is perhaps a unique pub crawl visiting at least 7 pubs and enjoying a different pint in each from independent and small breweries all without leaving the station or at most just walking across the road.

We will travel to Huddersfield and make our way back, as we feel it is better to travel homeward bound as the drinks go down. There is plenty of time for a relaxing pint at each location and a chance for food at some of the pubs and there are chip shops near others. It only takes 5-10 mins between each stop with fine scenery to view along the way, no time wasted in walking and a guarantee of a different brew in each.

We will be starting off at Bolton Train Station – you can either meet up at 9.15am at  Wetherspoon’s for breakfast, or be at Bolton Station for 10.45am. The train leaves at 10.55am via Manchester Piccadilly to Huddersfield.

People wishing to ‘set off’ at their own pace, at a different time or location  – see you there!

The event is is booked to coincide with the Huddersfield Food Festival, which is a good place to start.

This is an opportunity to have some fun and also meet other members and activists.
